1. Acceptance of Terms
By creating an account or using MathMastery, you agree to these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the platform.
If you are a minor (under 19 in most Canadian provinces), your parent or guardian must authorize your account by providing an invite code. By sharing an invite code with a child, the parent or teacher confirms they have reviewed and accepted these terms on the child's behalf.
2. Eligibility
- MathMastery is available to students in Kindergarten through Grade 12 across Canada.
- Student accounts may only be created using an invite code issued by a verified parent or teacher. No independent student registration is permitted.
- Parent accounts are for individuals who have purchased a Family plan and take responsibility for their children's use of the platform.
- Teacher accounts are for educators employed at Canadian schools. By registering, you confirm you have authority to manage student data for your classroom.
3. Account Responsibilities
- You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials.
- You must provide accurate information when creating your account.
- Do not share your account or invite codes with unauthorized individuals.
- You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account. Notify us immediately at privacy@mathmastery.ca if you suspect unauthorized access.
4. Acceptable Use
You agree to use MathMastery only for legitimate educational purposes. You must not:
- Use the platform to cheat on exams or assessments at your school
- Attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or exploit any part of the platform
- Use automated tools (bots, scripts) to generate problems or answers at scale
- Submit harmful, offensive, or personally identifying content in answer fields
- Share, resell, or redistribute AI-generated content from the platform
- Impersonate another person or create fictitious accounts
5. Intellectual Property
- The MathMastery platform, including its design, code, and non-AI content, is owned by MathMastery and protected by Canadian copyright law.
- AI-generated problems and lessons are provided for your personal educational use only. You may not republish or sell them.
- Your progress data belongs to you. You may request an export or deletion at any time.
6. AI-Generated Content
Math problems, lessons, hints, and tutoring responses are generated by artificial intelligence (Anthropic's Claude). While we strive for accuracy:
- AI-generated content may occasionally contain errors.
- MathMastery is a supplementary educational tool and is not a substitute for qualified teacher instruction.
- Teachers and parents should review AI-generated material when used in formal assessments.
7. Subscription and Billing
- Free accounts include limited daily practice problems. Paid plans (Student, Family, School) unlock additional features described on the Pricing page.
- Payments are processed by Stripe. By subscribing, you also agree to Stripe's terms.
- Subscriptions renew automatically. You may cancel at any time via Account Settings → Manage Billing. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.
- Refunds are available within 14 days of initial purchase if you have not substantially used the service. Contact privacy@mathmastery.ca.
- School plan pricing is based on the number of active students per classroom, billed annually.
8. Termination
- You may delete your account at any time via Account Settings → Delete Account. This immediately and permanently removes your data.
- We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, without prior notice, at our sole discretion.
- If a subscription is active at the time of termination, we will provide a pro-rata refund for the unused portion at our discretion.
9. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by Canadian law, MathMastery is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We are not liable for:
- Errors in AI-generated educational content
- Service interruptions or data loss due to technical failures
- Any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from use of the platform
Our total liability to you in any circumstance is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.
10. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the federal laws of Canada and, where applicable, the laws of the province or territory in which you reside. For privacy matters, applicable legislation includes PIPEDA (federal), FOIPPA (BC), FOIP (Saskatchewan), PIPA (Alberta/BC private sector), and Law 25 (Quebec). Disputes that cannot be resolved informally shall be referred to arbitration or the courts of British Columbia.
